Portraits

In 2010, Alphonse van Woerkom embarked on a project featuring portraits of renowned American Artists. Utilizing charcoal, pastels, and charcoal pencils, he created large-scale portraits that were exhibited in 2011 at Sragow Gallery in Chelsea, New York under the title "Face Value." Among the portraits were depictions of three well-known American poets: Ron Padgett, Bill Berkson, and Bob Holeman.

Following the exhibition, select portraits from "Face Value" were displayed in various venues. Notably, one of the portraits was acquired by the Smithsonian and the National Portrait Gallery. In the fall of 2017, the drawings were showcased in a solo exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art in South Carolina. The portraits, rendered on heavy paper, measure roughly 6 feet by 7 feet.
